MT Blab

A place for me, an at-home MT (medical transcriptionist) to blab about the ups and downs of transcribing at home, industry news, products, and blah blah blah blah.

Getting Your Line Count Done

Working at home means NOT getting sidetracked with other things going on in your home. Actually, I think the biggest challenge facing anyone who wants to work at home is being able to stay focused on work while in their own comfy (or chaotic) home.

Yesterday was not a good day for my line count. I typically do over 1200 lines a day, but yesterday I never made it to 800. Why? First of all, I woke up feeling bad, but let's face it: as an at-home MT, that does NOT matter for most of us. You have to type anyway.

Secondly, I allowed myself to get caught up in "moving a few things around" in an upstairs bedroom. Of course, it took three times longer than anticipated.

The last reason was that I had to run an errand and I was slow getting out the door, and thus late coming back from my lunch break. When I finally did settle in to type, my morale was down because of the tone of the day in general, and I just could not seem to get the work out.

All of that added up to not getting my line count. Sigh. Unfortunately, that kind of day can have an impact on the next day, but ONLY IF YOU LET IT.

Today is a new day. Next, I will post some tips to help medical transcriptionists get their lines.
